Aminat Agoro

I am Aminat Agoro, an online tutor passionate about helping children become confident, expressive, and independent users of language. I work with learners from **Grade 1 to Grade 9**, including children in diaspora communities, and I tailor my lessons to each learner’s age, learning level, personality, and individual needs.

I teach English Language using the standard curriculum, covering reading, comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, sentence construction, creative writing, speaking, and other essential language skills. My approach goes beyond helping learners complete schoolwork. I want them to understand what they are learning, ask questions confidently, and eventually apply the skills without depending entirely on a tutor.

I also teach Yoruba to beginners, heritage learners, and children in the diaspora. I particularly enjoy working with children who may understand some Yoruba but struggle to speak, read, or write it. My Yoruba lessons combine everyday conversations, vocabulary, stories, songs, simple passages, cultural expressions, and practical activities. This allows learners to develop their language skills while also building a meaningful connection with Yoruba culture and identity.

Teaching online has taught me that no two learners respond to lessons in exactly the same way. I therefore use questioning, repetition, storytelling, visual resources, interactive activities, guided practice, and carefully structured exercises to make lessons engaging without losing focus.

For me, successful tutoring is not simply about getting the right answer. It is about helping a learner understand, practise, gain confidence, and eventually say, “I can do this myself" That is the progress I aim to create in every lesson.
